There’s No Dial Tone

Did you know that most wireless phones don’t need a dial tone anymore? It’s just an old feature we’re all used to.

But if you can’t hear that dial tone when you usually can, or you’re having trouble making calls, there could be an issue with your copper connection. This usually happens due to the degradation of the wiring connecting your phone to the network.

First, check that your phone is plugged in correctly and the dock is charging the handset as it should be. Any issue with this will kill the phone and stop you from making calls.

If all of this is in order, our home telephone installers will need to come out to check the wiring of your home telephone service.

The Landline isn’t Working, But the Wi-Fi is

If your internet is working fine, but your landline is dead, this is most likely an issue with the modem or an internal network error.

Start by switching everything off and on again – this will reboot the system and might rectify the problem. If it doesn’t, check there are no landline outages in your area. If your neighbours are having issues, too, it’s a wider problem with the provider.

If it’s not a local issue and you can’t get your phone to work, give us a call, and we’ll take a look at the problem for you.

Your Phone Won’t Charge

Wireless phones charge when they’re sat on the base. Most phones will have a small battery display on the screen that lets you know how much charge it has. If it’s not charging, there’s an issue with the base.

Start by turning it off and cleaning the battery contact pad with a dry cloth – this should remove any dust or debris interfering with the connection. If that doesn’t help, try plugging it into a different outlet to make sure it’s not an issue with the plug.

If the handset has batteries, switch these out for fresh ones to see if it’s a problem with those.

You Can’t Make Outgoing Calls

If you suddenly can’t make calls from your phone, it could be an issue with the wall jack. If you can, replace the telephone line cable with a new one to see if this fixes the problem. If the existing line is fine, there could be a larger issue that our team needs to investigate.
